Frequently asked questions
Answers from our service pages about trucking, drayage, freight, and logistics.
Road transport & nationwide trucking
Do you operate your own trucks?
Yes, in Chicago. Our nationwide and out-of-market capacity also uses our carrier and partner network; we do not imply company trucks are based in every service market.
What equipment can I request?
Dry van, flatbed, step deck and container transportation are supported. Heavy haul and oversized/project freight require a load-specific review.
Is every lane available on demand?
We confirm capacity and equipment for the requested origin, destination and date. Listing a market does not guarantee a particular dispatch slot.
FTL & LTL shipping
Does FTL mean UKA owns the assigned truck?
Not necessarily. UKA has its own Chicago tractors, and nationwide FTL capacity also uses established carriers. The operation and equipment for your shipment are confirmed during planning.
Can I request a smaller shipment?
Yes. Send dimensions, weight and the full route so we can review LTL or partial-load options. We do not assume a parcel or residential delivery service fits every request.
Do you advertise refrigerated truckload?
Hazmat or other specialized freight is subject to the commodity, documentation, equipment, driver qualifications, and UKA approval. We do not broadly offer every hazardous-material class. Refrigerated or temperature-controlled transportation is not advertised as a core UKA service.
Chicago intermodal container drayage
Which container sizes do you handle?
Our confirmed container capabilities include 20-foot, 40-foot, and 40-foot high cubes. Share the size, commodity and loaded weight when requesting a quote.
Can you pre-pull a container or arrange storage?
Yes. Pre-pulls and storage are part of our operation. Send the availability and receiving constraints so we can confirm an appropriate arrangement.
Do you provide chassis capacity?
UKA has private chassis capacity in the Chicago market. Chassis requirements, moves and splits are reviewed with the container request.
Do you handle live unloads and drop & hook?
Yes. Tell us the receiving arrangement and appointment requirements so the dispatch plan reflects the actual delivery.
Can you move a hazardous-material container?
Hazmat or other specialized freight is subject to the commodity, documentation, equipment, driver qualifications, and UKA approval. We do not broadly offer every hazardous-material class. Refrigerated or temperature-controlled transportation is not advertised as a core UKA service.
Final-mile & container delivery
Can you handle live unload or drop & hook?
Yes. These are confirmed UKA container capabilities. Receiving and equipment requirements must be included in the request.
Can freight be delivered after transload?
Yes. We can coordinate transload/warehousing and onward final-mile or truckload transportation, subject to the actual freight and receiving requirements.
Is specialized delivery automatically included?
No. Additional handling or equipment needs must be reviewed for the specific shipment and delivery site.
Specialized freight & heavy haul
Do you support flatbed and step deck freight?
Yes. Flatbed and step deck are owner-confirmed capabilities. Share the load dimensions, weight and loading method to establish the right arrangement.
Can you handle oversized or heavy project cargo?
UKA handles heavy haul and oversized/project freight subject to an individual equipment and movement review. Do not assume availability or permitting from a general service listing.
Are all hazmat classes accepted?
Hazmat or other specialized freight is subject to the commodity, documentation, equipment, driver qualifications, and UKA approval. We do not broadly offer every hazardous-material class. Refrigerated or temperature-controlled transportation is not advertised as a core UKA service.
Transload, warehousing & supply chain
Do you offer transload and warehousing?
Yes. Both are owner-confirmed capabilities. Send cargo details, the required location and timing so the handling and storage arrangement can be reviewed.
Do you own warehouses in every service market?
We do not make that claim. Chicago is our core direct operation; nationwide work also uses established partners. Confirm the warehouse location and operating arrangement for each request.
Can storage and onward trucking be quoted together?
Yes. Include the expected storage period and destination along with container availability and cargo details.
Project freight coordination
What should I include in a project quote?
Cargo dimensions/weights, the loading method, site restrictions, dates and delivery sequence. Flag any out-of-gauge or hazardous commodity at the start.
Can UKA connect container pickup with a project delivery?
Yes. Drayage, transload/warehousing and onward transport can be planned around the cargo and site requirements.
Does project forwarding include ocean or air carriage?
This page describes UKA’s inland/project transportation scope. Airline, ocean-carrier, NVOCC and customs-broker roles are not UKA operations.
Inland transport for air freight
Is UKA an airline or air carrier?
No. UKA’s confirmed strength is the inland transportation side of international freight. Air carriage and flight arrangements are separate from our ground transportation scope.
What air-related work can I request?
Ground pickup or delivery, onward road transportation, and warehousing/transload requirements connected to an air shipment. Provide the facility location and handling/release details.
Can you guarantee a flight connection?
We do not advertise guaranteed flight connections. Inland timing depends on cargo release, the actual facility requirements and confirmed transport arrangements.
Inland transport for ocean freight
Does UKA operate vessels or act as an NVOCC?
No. UKA provides inland transportation capability, including drayage, container transport, transload, warehousing and onward delivery.
Which container sizes do you handle?
20-foot, 40-foot and 40-foot high-cube containers are confirmed. Commodity, loaded weight, release status and receiving requirements must be included in the quote request.
Can UKA coordinate empty returns and chassis moves?
Yes. Empty returns, chassis moves/splits and private chassis capacity are part of our Chicago intermodal operation.
Do you guarantee customs clearance?
No. We do not claim to act as a customs broker or guarantee clearance. Cargo release and the responsible provider’s instructions are inputs to the inland transport plan.
