FTL & LTL shipping

UKA provides nationwide FTL capacity and reviews partial-load or LTL requests against the freight, available equipment, and route. Chicago company trucks and our wider carrier network support these arrangements.

Full truckload or shared capacity

FTL uses dedicated truck space for a shipment. A partial-load or LTL arrangement shares available capacity. The choice depends on the dimensions, weight, handling requirements, receiving constraints, and timing—not simply the number of cartons.

Equipment and shipment review

Dry van is available alongside flatbed and step deck capability. For machinery or other open-deck freight, send dimensions and loading details rather than selecting a service solely by price.

  • Pallet count, dimensions, weight, and commodity.
  • Whether the freight is stackable and how it is packaged.
  • Forklift, dock, crane or other loading/unloading requirements.
  • Pickup and receiving appointments, access restrictions, and requested dates.

How capacity is provided

Chicago is our core asset-based market, with company tractors and private chassis capacity. For nationwide and out-of-market work, we also use our established carrier and partner network. Equipment and service arrangements are confirmed for each shipment.

Connecting containers to domestic truckload

A container shipment may need a transload before the domestic leg. We can discuss warehousing/transload and the onward truckload as part of the same request. See warehousing and transportation coordination.

Questions about this service

Does FTL mean UKA owns the assigned truck?

Not necessarily. UKA has its own Chicago tractors, and nationwide FTL capacity also uses established carriers. The operation and equipment for your shipment are confirmed during planning.

Can I request a smaller shipment?

Yes. Send dimensions, weight and the full route so we can review LTL or partial-load options. We do not assume a parcel or residential delivery service fits every request.

Do you advertise refrigerated truckload?

Hazmat or other specialized freight is subject to the commodity, documentation, equipment, driver qualifications, and UKA approval. We do not broadly offer every hazardous-material class. Refrigerated or temperature-controlled transportation is not advertised as a core UKA service.
