Chicago intermodal drayage is UKA Transportation LLC’s strongest direct operation. We run our own trucks in the Chicago market and maintain private chassis capacity for import and export container work.
Chicago ramps we regularly serve
- BNSF LPC (Logistics Park Chicago), Elwood
- UP Global IV, Joliet
- CSX 59th Street
- CSX Bedford Park
- CN Harvey
- NS / Norfolk Southern and other Chicago-area ramps where applicable
From ramp pickup through empty return
Container work involves more than a pickup and a delivery. We handle local and regional drayage, pre-pulls, drop & hook, live unloads, and empty returns. Chassis moves and splits, storage, and transload or warehousing can be included in the transportation plan.
- 20-foot, 40-foot, and 40-foot high-cube containers.
- Company tractors in Chicago and private chassis capacity.
- Final-mile/container delivery to the receiving location.
- Coverage across Elwood, Joliet, Bedford Park, Harvey, Bensenville, Blue Island, and surrounding suburbs.
Plan the container move
Send the container and terminal details before dispatch is arranged. Availability, release information, loaded weight, appointment requirements, and the empty-return instructions all affect the move. If the consignee cannot receive when the container is available, tell us whether a pre-pull, storage, or transload is needed.
Chicago assets and wider market capacity
Chicago is our core asset-based market, with company tractors and private chassis capacity. For nationwide and out-of-market work, we also use our established carrier and partner network. Equipment and service arrangements are confirmed for each shipment.
We also handle container moves in confirmed markets including Detroit, Cleveland, Columbus, and Memphis. See our service markets for the distinction between the Chicago asset operation and out-of-market capacity.
Special cargo requires approval
Hazmat or other specialized freight is subject to the commodity, documentation, equipment, driver qualifications, and UKA approval. We do not broadly offer every hazardous-material class. Refrigerated or temperature-controlled transportation is not advertised as a core UKA service.
